Baptist scarecrows

The Baptist Church this year are building on the success of their events last year and for the festival this year they are organising a fun session of Messy Harvest festival with Scarecrow building followed by a community lunch on Sunday 15th, plus a community space on the following Monday 16th for quiet interaction and introspection. Both the outgoing and the inward looking being important to feed the spirit within us all.

Sunday 15th Sept at 9.00am A fun and supportive wellbeing event at Millennium Green. This free event will start with a walk, run or walk/run around Millennium Green and finish with a taster relaxation and mindfulness practice. Open to all abilities. Contact Emily at The Campton  Clinic.  http://www.thecamptonclinic.com.

Good luck to Emily in bringing mindful exercise to the Festival – another enjoyable event joins our program for the week.  Have a good time.

Barnwell Music in action

We are delighted that once again Barnwell Music will support the Community Festival with a range of free events – a choral workshop, a guitar workshop and  piano/keyboard taster lessons. See our main program for details and/or contact [email protected]

Ribbon cutting

We are delighted to announce that our MP and local resident, Alistair Strathern, has agreed to attend our opening ceremony, on Friday 13 Sept at 5.00pm, and to join with Mayor Ken Pollard in cutting the ribbon – along with the  Shefford Prince and Princess – I’m going to need so many pairs of scissors!

We are delighted that there will be fun free activities for children organised by Acorn Pre-school and Mighty Oaks held in Pamoli Square/High Street on Saturday 14th September from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm –  Contact Jaqui on 01462 816281 or www.acornpre-school.co.uk.

We look forward to there being lots of things for the kids to do in this area which is growing in popularity for social activities. We often see the Community Market here and of course the EatFeast street food market.

New Program for 2024

We are about to send out our printed program to every house in Shefford courtesy of the great people at LivingLife – so look out for their September issue and don’t throw away the inserts until you have collected and saved your festival program – a whole six pages with even more activities! This year is our seventh – if you count the “silent” festival in 2020 when H&S shut us down for Covid – but some events still continued.  As usual, our program is listed as “Draft” since not all organisers managed to get information to us in time for printing but we will continue to update the online program up to the week itself – so if you have some news do let us know however late it is.

This year we welcome the Community Market on Sat 14th Sept, which is about to celebrate its 12th month and is becoming a notable local event on the second Saturday of each month. We are delighted their timing matched ours and look forward to seeing the fruit and veg along with the crafts and the street food and the books and the cakes and all the other stuff.
